A warrior >:D

Great piece in/of itself. Would you be able to record a piano track for me? I like piano more than strings/synth. :P
Anyways. I could definitely see the story play out. In the beginning, the warrior is getting hype and cheer from a crowd, or leaving a castle or town. I can see him(her) facing what he fears to slay the most- himself. You have an epic piece from :50 - 2:19; I literally see him battling and staring down what he has to face. And at the end, the beast has won. He is over- they are finished.
Only thing to work on here would be some of the transitions; some are fast and abrupt while others take a while to get to.

Yes sir, private message me and we can talk about the piano track you asked for. Do you play?

I was hoping..

I was hoping this would be a medley on the piano, not a collection of jingles played as MIDIs. But for what it's worth, it's great haha. I could see this working on some Sonic flashes. The only thing I'd say is about the bass- it's electronic, and sometimes it continues after the piano is done and it sounds awkward o:

Other than that one detail, I liked the collections.
I was(and still do) hoping that this would be an actual piano though :<

DrMackFoxx responds:

Well, glad to hear you liked this collection, anyway. :) Seemed like a better idea to compile all the jingles and short themes from Sonic 1 into one file instead of ending up with 9 different submissions. The purpose of this track really is more utilitarian than anything else. Granted, if you search for "Sonic Jingles" in the Audio Portal, this is currently the only track that will be displayed in your search results. Kinda gives you an idea of how often these jingles are redone. ^_^;

As for the bass, you do have a good point. While the bass is supposed to trail off for the Title Screen and Ending Scene, it should not have for some of these other short tunes. Oh, well...

I also must say that, although I can play the piano myself a bit, I don't have access to real instruments or good recording equipment. So, my works are going to have to be MIDI-based. In fact, tracks made only with real instruments are not very common in the Audio Portal. Some MIDI sound sets are very, very good.

Sorry this was not quite what you were looking for. May I recommend my tune "Sonic 1- Special Zone Piano"? Probably more along the lines of what you were expecting from this track.

At any rate, thank you very much for the review. I appreciate it. :)

Where's my Drop? :<

The synth pad got a little boring and trancey in my mind. It's soothing yeah, but I was looking forward to the drop. But once it got there, I loved it xD

Either pick it up a bit, or add a drop earlier and then let it rest again till the last one. :3

dietsnapple135 responds:

Sometimes you just gotta wait 55 seconds for your drop. This isn't brostep, and I like giving real intros. Sorry if you find the wait that bad, but I promise, the buildup would be less effective if it didn't have any substance.

Aye x.x

I like it, but I don't like some of the leads used. The bass was excellent, of course xD a little high for me, but it wasn't bad. I just didn't like the brass sounding lads. :<

But over all, a great track and great thought put into this.

Bahah. Not a fan of dubstep, and I'm trying to get into the genre. Thanks to people like you, I actually like it when it has a melody, a main point. I was waiting for the main drop, and I was, "Holy shit this is sick as hell." Hahah xD

The only thing I would see is have two drops- make one a minute or two earlier than the last. It's just too late into the song in my oppinion.

Other than that, it was flawless. The treble contrasted the bass very well and overall mastering was flawless :3

Awesome. I love reviews like yours. Thank you! haha
I feel pretty great knowing that one my songs is helping you get into dubstep. Glad you like the drop too, I really try to emphasize them in my songs :)

Just thanks a lot for your review, man. I really do appreciate it!

Techno?

Definitely has potential, but for a Techno Battle? I don't think it works. To sloww. It could have a nice dubstep mix though. I liked the reverb- it is different. But the lead you chose doesn't mix with the bass in my mind.

It does have a jazzy feel, and I like it, but I don't think it fits with the title at all. I was looking for something to be fast, upbeat, energetic. A battle between two techno artists or a battle engrossed with various beats and melodies instead of something laid back and mello.

Either way, for what was done, it was done well. :P
I do like, and I could listen to that bass for hours on end. :3
Also, it was mastered well.

FaeryTaleAdventurer responds:

Not exactly what I meant by a "battle". I meant a battle as in like a battle between characters and fiends in a game, like an RPG or something.

Thanks for your thoughts; It's good to know I'm improving on my audio mastering skills (a boatload of trial and error, tbh). I like the bass too.

I would liek it o:

I'd like it if it wasn't so repetitive. I know Newgrounds is all about repetition, but this is too much at the same octave. The noise started to hurt my ears. Also, it seemed that thought wasn't really put in this. Not to be mean, but this lacked creativity.

AliceMako responds:

No offence but it sounds to me like you just don't like tekno :3
I don't mind, to each their own, right?

The only things i was concerned with as far as this piece goes was arrangement and achieving a rubber duck-esque synth lead, so guilty as charged on being uncreative :D

I have a hunch you'll like my attempts at industrial better but i could be wrong.

Thanks for reviewing <3

Uhmmmm..

What's dub?

It's a sick loop though. Great to chill to.

(just for being so short D:)

KieranNG responds:

Dub is kind of like electronic reggae.

I thought that

The drum track was a little misleading in the beginning. It sounds like it's going to lead into either a major breakdown or something hard or sad, but instead it transitions into a happy melody- it was a little awkward to me. Only thing I'd change though. Love this track :3

bossfight responds:

Thanks for taking your time!
I've never thought of that before, but it's a bit true haha :D

Is this really

Even metal? I like it, don't get me wrong, but I think there needs to be something more. Like, a lot more. It was too laid back for what I was expecting, especially through the title. I would just add more of a guitar with whatever synth(program) you're using.
I would have the intro with the synth, and then add a break down with the guitars.
So basicallly,

Intro (synth)
Breakdown with guitars (synth included)
triple strum
triple strum
double strum
triple strum
single strum
double strum
single strum
double strum
triple strum
Main melody (Guitar and Synth)
Verse-ish (guitar palm muted with synth playing melody)
Main melody (both)
End with breakdown on guitar and the melody repeating on synth.

Ok, now that's over with, I wanna say I love the feel and message of this piece :3 I could see this going somewhere. It has nice consistency and a great melody. Keep it upp ;D

Frequality responds:

Thank you so much! :-) I will upload another mix that follows ur instructions :D I have hired a guy, who will record a real guitar sample for me! =D So It might turns out pretty well!

Thank you for the inspiration!
